On 1 October, the province of South Holland paid a working visit to Porta Nova & Gearbox with Deputy Willy de Zoete (Economy and SMEs) and Deputy Meindert Stolk. The GearRover was put in the spotlight and tested by the visitors!
From the press release: ‘This system monitors the growth and development of flowers from planting to harvest and identifies flowers that are ready for harvesting using smart technology. This improves harvest quality and efficiency and enables growers to employ inexperienced harvesting staff. This project is in line with Greenport West-Holland’s digitalisation ambitions.’
Deputy Stolk (Economy and Innovation, Horticulture): "The horticultural sector is extremely innovative, as we can see here at Porta Nova. Thanks to effective collaboration, innovations are being developed here in South Holland that are spreading across the globe. This creates a strong sector that is important to our economy and contributes to major issues such as food supply and greening.
