GearStation now also available for soft fruit and stone fruit

The GearStation, Gearbox's smart workstation, has previously assessed tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, grapes and cut flowers such as roses, gerberas, chrysanthemums, lilies and tulips. Now soft fruit and stone fruit have also been added for 100% quality control. These include strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, peaches and avocados. The GearStation now assesses an increasingly comprehensive range of packaged vegetables, fruit and flowers, whether they are transported in punnets, on trays, in boxes, crates or buckets.

How the GearStation works

The GearStation uses the latest camera technology and AI algorithms to ensure 100% quality inspection. This prevents the wrong product from ending up with the customer immediately after harvesting and processing. The GearStation is placed in-line between the existing processing lines. The customer determines the quality standard for the assessment themselves via the user-friendly interface, where each quality characteristic can be set separately. The reports provide a clear overview of the quality of each assessed product. The dashboards thus provide new insights.

The advantages

  • Reducing risks | Smart cameras and AI ensure 100% objective quality control

  • Increase delivery reliability | Poor-quality products in carriers or containers are removed

  • Short payback period | In many cases, saves at least 1 FTE in labour costs

  • Real-time insight | Clear reports for insight into the performance of each employee and supplier
